The Sifton Bog Environmentally Significant Area is a wetland jointly administered by the city of London, Ontario and the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority. It is located west of Hyde Park Road and south of Oxford Street inside the city limits of London, Southern Ontario, Canada.
The main feature of this 41.6-hectare public site is the floating acid peat bog and associated boreal plant life. Deciduous swamp and upland forest surround the bog, providing a sharp contrast between the northern (boreal) and southern (Carolinian) vegetation types.
Sifton Bog Trail. Head out on this 2.3-mile out-and-back trail near London, Ontario. Generally considered an easy route, it takes an average of 43 min to complete. This is a popular trail for birding, snowshoeing, and running, but you can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of day.

Oct 6, 2023 · If you need a quick shot of nature, this is the place to see it! Located in Oakridge, Sifton Bog is close to one of London's popular local markets - Remark Fresh Markets. This natural gem has a meandering boardwalk that leads to a platform extending into Redmond's Pond.
The Sifton Bog is an acidic bog in which only a limited number of plants can grow. Most would normally be found in more northern climates. Since the bog is surrounded by woods with Carolinian affinities, one can experience in a ten minute walk changes in vegetation that could normally take a journey of several hundred kilometres.
Dec 15, 2016 · Sifton Bog is home to uncommon butterflies, including the Bog Copper, whose larvae feed on cranberry plants, and the Bog Elfin, which relies on blueberry plants. Many brightly coloured dragonflies and damselflies can be seen around the pond in summer.
