Paddington is an area in the City of Westminster, in central London, England. A medieval parish then a metropolitan borough, it was integrated with Westminster and Greater London in 1965. Paddington station, designed by the engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel opened in 1847.
Paddington is one of the better-known areas in London, with plenty of things to do, brilliant restaurants, and interesting landmarks, there’s a lot more to it than you might think.
- Go and Find Paddington Bear. Of course, you can’t go to Paddington and really feel like you’ve done it properly without seeing Paddington Bear. Inside the impressive Paddington station, over on Platform 1 is a bronze sculpture of Paddington Bear.
- Visit St. Mary’s Hospital and see the Laboratory of Alexander Fleming. St Mary’s Hospital has recently been in the limelight as it was where Will and Kate’s royal kiddies were born.
- Go to Merchant Square. If you’re looking for a hub of action, look no further than Merchant Square. This spot hosts street food vendors on Tuesdays and Thursdays and often has live music and other events.
- Walk through Little Venice. Little Venice is not a misnomer. It is called Little Venice because it looks like a mini version of Venice. It is an oasis of peace that will quickly make you forget about the bustling streets just a few minutes away in Paddington.

The tales of the adventurous bear from Peru were created by the late author Michael Bond who noticed a lone teddy bear sitting on a shelf in a shop near the train station on Christmas Eve 1956.
