Located in the Greater Los Angeles region of Southern California, the city's population was 310,227 at the 2020 census, making Santa Ana the second most populous city in Orange County (after Anaheim), the 13th-most populous city in California, and the 64th densest large city in the United States.

- Lyon Air Museum. World War II History. While the Lyon Air Museum has been open for almost 15 years, I only recently discovered it. Located in a hangar behind the John Wayne Airport, the collection of aircraft and vehicles focuses on World War II.
- Blinking Owl Distillery. Aquavit. Blinking Owl might be the only place in California making the Scandinavian liquor called “aquavit,” so I couldn’t wait to check out this distillery.
- Santa Ana Artists Village. First Saturday ArtWalk. For many years, my husband and I have been enjoying Artists Village in downtown Santa Ana during the First Saturday ArtWalk.
- Enjoy live shows at Yost Theater. If you’re wondering where the locals of Santa Ana go to watch live events, it is in the Yost Theater. It is located in the downtown historic district and is also a historical site itself.
- Dine at the cozy Lola Gaspar. If you’re looking for a chill hangout space in Santa Ana, then you have to visit Lola Gaspar. It is a local pub with a cozy atmosphere that has a bar and outdoor seating.
- Admire the artistic Cal State Fullerton’s Grand Central Art Center. If you’re into arts, you shouldn’t miss the chance to see the Cal State Fullerton’s Grand Central Art Center.
- Take a quick trip to the East End Promenade. The downtown of Orange County, East End in Santa Ana is a site where you’ll find lots of unique shops, quirky local stores, and cute cafes, galleries, and creative space.
