The Adirondack Forty-Sixers are an organization of hikers who have climbed all forty-six of the traditionally recognized High Peaks of the Adirondack Mountains. They are often referred to just as 46ers. As of 2021, there were nearly 14,000 registered forty-sixers.
The Adirondack Forty-Sixers have been hiking and maintaining trails in the High Peaks since 1925. In order to join the 46ers, one must hike all 46 peaks on the list, while reporting your progress to the organization by way of letters.
You might see Adirondack Forty-Sixers abbreviated as ADK 46ers, which makes it easy to confuse with Adirondack Mountain Club, aka ADK. But they are two separate organizations, and many hikers choose to become members of and support both!
Oct 27, 2021 · The Adirondack 46er Challenge, consists of the 46 different high peaks throughout the entire Adirondack Park in New York State, hence the name, Adirondack 46ers. Most of the peaks are about 4.5-6 hours north of New York City and 2-3 hours north of Albany.
