  3. Dec 16, 2023 · Berger died Dec. 1 at Valley Senior Living on 42nd Street South. He was 76. After joining the UND Department of History in August 1987, he taught 20th- and 21st-century history of the U.S., military history and the history of U.S. foreign relations. He retired in May 2019.
