Steven John Carell (/ k ə ˈ r ɛ l /; born August 16, 1962) is an American actor and comedian. He is best known for his role as Michael Scott in the NBC sitcom The Office (2005–2011, 2013), in which he also worked at several points as a producer, executive producer, writer, and director.
Carell's most recent roles are the comedies Despicable Me 2 (2013), Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues (2013), and Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day (2014), and the drama Foxcatcher (2014), and the more serious Beautiful Boy (2018) and Vice (2018).
