Formed in February 1977, the group originally included vocalist and keyboardist Glenn Danzig, bassist Diane DiPiazza, who was replaced by Jerry Only, and drummer Mr. Jim, who was replaced by Manny Martinez shortly after, with guitarist Franché Coma added in the fall of that year.
Feb 3, 2021 · Naming his new band The Misfits after Marilyn Monroe's final film, Danzig recruited bassist Diane DiPiazza and drummer Manny Martinez. Failing to show up for rehearsals, Piazza was soon replaced by Jerry Caiafa.
The box set also includes 30 rare never before released alternate versions and out-takes from the band’s legendary recording sessions including the original versions of “Cough Cool” & “She” from the Misfits first single (1977), the famous MSP sessions (1980) and lots more.
Forty years on, the Misfits have endured hardcore’s heyday as punk rock’s monster squad, a band whose cult following – a pseudo-secret coven known as the Fiend Club – inspired them to continue to write, record and tour.

The fact that they’d split up several years earlier was neither here nor there. Their B-movie-style black-and-white logo and iconic skull mascot was emblazoned on t-shirts from London to LA.
