- Footloose is a feel-good film with heart and a great soundtrack. While the script is cheesy at times and the dancing leaves a lot to be desired, the film harkens back to a more innocent time in filmmaking when everything wasn't about sex and drugs in teen movies.

'Footloose', despite being an enormous hit back in the 80s, seems to be a very divisive love it/hate it film critically now. This reviewer neither loves or hates 'Footloose', from personal opinion it falls short of being great but the immense appeal is definitely understandable.
On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, 55% of 47 critics' reviews are positive, with an average rating of 5.8/10. The website's consensus reads: "There's not much dancing, but what's there is great. The rest of the time, Footloose is a nice hunk of trashy teenage cheese." [33]
Feb 17, 1984 · Review. Featured review. 8/10. Sure it's silly but it's an 80s teen musical. Teenager Ren (Kevin Bacon) moves to a small mid Western town with his mom after his parents divorce. It seems the Reverend Moore (John Lithgow), of the town's only church, has totally banned rock and roll music from the entire town.
