Caldea Spa taps into the thermal waters of the nearby Escaldes-Engordany springs which are 70ºC (158ºF) at the source. The therapeutic effects of the thermal water come from its high mineral content, including sodium and sulphur.
The thermal waters of Escaldes-Engordany are made up of sulphurous water containing sodium. As the water is rich in sulphur and oily, it is home to thermal plankton that sprouts at 68-71ºC, making it one of the hottest water sources in Europe. If you pay a visit, you will be able to get close up and touch the water for yourself.

Pools and hot tubs, obviously, but also change rooms, restaurants, saunas, offices, massage rooms. Do not expect something ‘authentic’ or quaint as a natural hot spring or onsen as in Japan or Iceland. Caldea looks more like a generic water park.
