Nov 6, 2023 · Children who come to UCSF or a UCSF affiliate for primary care are eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine with us. Patients 6 months to 17 years must be accompanied by a parent or other adult caregiver. To schedule an appointment, please contact your child's primary care provider.
While COVID-19 appears to be less severe for children, a number of key gaps remain in our understanding. We now believe that some children develop a severe post-infectious, multi-system, inflammatory syndrome that can lead to heart problems and shock.
While much remains to be understood, new research suggests that children do not transmit COVID-19 to the same extent as adults. In addition, the inflammatory disease related to COVID-19 that has recently made headlines is incredibly rare. Risk to your child is minimal.
