In our opinion, the Dubliners are one of the best Irish bands around.
- U2 – 170 million+ records sold worldwide, our number one. Love them or hate them and in Ireland, opinions can be equally divided, you have to hand it to the Dublin based Rock group who have conquered the world in music terms.
- Westlife – one of the best Irish boy bands. Having written about my own personal musical indoctrination — listening to Granny’s Intentions — above, my inclusion of Westlife in this list may seem strange and out of character.
- Horslips – the Celtic rockers. To be technically correct Celtic rock is a miscegenation of the traditional folk music of Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Brittany.
- The Cranberries – Limerick’s most famous Irish band. The Cranberries were formed in Limerick during 1989 by the then lead singer Niall Quinn, who was to be shortly replaced by Dolores O’Riordan.

- The Cranberries. The Cranberries - Linger (Official Music Video) It might surprise you that The Cranberries started as an all-male band with lead singer Niall Quinn in 1989.
- U2. With Or Without You (Live From Milan) U2 started in Dublin, Ireland, in 1976 and consisted of the lead singer Paul David Hewson (better known as Bono), David Evans (now known as The Edge), Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullen Jr.
- The Corrs. Forgiven, Not Forgotten. The Corrs were huge in the 90s with their blend of folk rock with some very obvious Celtic roots. Based out of County Louth, this family band first got together in 1990 and immediately focused on producing pop rock with a family-friendly nature.

- The Pogues. The Pogues are considered one of the most influential bands of the 80s and have inspired countless musicians in the punk and folk genres. The band is known for its unique music and rowdy live performances.
- The Dubliners. The Dubliners are known for their unique style of music, which combines traditional Irish tunes with elements of British folk. Their song “The Irish Rover,” featuring another Irish band, The Pogues, topped the singles charts in Ireland and the UK.
