Clan of the White Lotus is a 1980 Shaw Brothers kung fu film directed by Lo Lieh, with action choreography by Lau Kar Leung, and starring Lo Lieh and Gordon Liu. It is released as Fists of the White Lotus in North America. The film follows on the 1977 film Executioners from Shaolin and 1979 film Abbot of Shaolin.

- Olivia Mossbacher. Olivia (Sydney Sweeney) is the least likable main character on the well-received HBO miniseries, which is no easy feat. The spoiled, deeply cynical teenager treats her younger brother Quinn (Fred Hechinger) like garbage, lords over her so-called friend Paula (Brittany O'Grady) like an evil warden, and tries to break up Paula's budding romance with Kai (Kekoa Kekumano) by stealing him for herself.
- Shane Patton. Shane Patton (Jake Lacy) is another detestable character who tastelessly flaunts his family wealth, aggressively flirts with teenage girls on his honeymoon, and encourages his new bride Rachel (Daddario) to drop her career hopes and dreams to live a life as a trophy wife, something she deeply opposes.
- Armond. While certainly one of the funniest and most flamboyant characters on the popular HBO original series, once Armond spirals into a drug-addled descent of debauchery and irresponsibility, he does some pretty loathsome things.
- Nicole Mossbacher. As a powerful female role model and CFO of fictional search engine proof, Nicole Mossbacher (Connie Britton) is quite likable and unforgettable.
- Belinda. Despite her character's relatively limited screen time, Natasha Rothwell truly shines as the benevolent Belinda in season one. Unlike perhaps every other adult on the show, Belinda is the only character who repeatedly exudes honesty and kindness, never in the name of achieving something else.
- Quinn. The youngest of the Mossbacher clan, Quinn easily displays the most character and good nature of all of them. Given who we're dealing with, from adulterers to Machiavellian girlbosses, the competition isn't exactly fierce, but Quinn still manages to make quite a name for himself by deciding to abandon his family's materialistic habits and stay on the island.
- Lucia. A universal fan favorite of season two, Lucia is a sex worker at the White Lotus on a mission to meet an unknown American man. She quickly becomes ensconced in the DiGrasso family drama, and her job makes her a constant target at the White Lotus, by figures like Valentina and those much more dangerous.
- Valentina. Even if she displays certain parallels to the unhinged season one manager, Valentina is light years beyond Armond in competence and general likability.
Rewatch Value 3.5. Clan of the White Lotus is an unofficial sequel of sorts to Executioners from Shaolin. Lo Lieh directs and stars in this film and he seems to take particular delight in playing the powerful, evil kung fu master. His character is one of the definitive bad guys of kung fu movies showing confidence, skill, humor, and malevolence.
