Група Дарквуд даб је основана средином 1988. године. Инспирацију за име налазе у стрипу о Загору који је живео у шуми Дарквуд. Прву поставу су чинила два бубњара, две бас-гитаре, ритам машина и вокал. Први концерт група је одржала 15. маја 1991. године у СКЦ -у (Студентски културни центар) у Београду.
