"Faux Amis" is the fifth episode of Season 1, and fifth episode overall.

Emily meets with Mindy at a restaurant to discuss everything that happened with Gabriel and Camille that weekend. While ordering, Emily confuses her French words and orders her croissant with a side of condoms instead of preserves, as she mistakes the word “préservatif” for meaning “preserves”. Mindy explains that this phenomenon of confusing words that look similar but are different in meaning are known as faux amis. It also means fake friends, with Mindy pointing out that it's like Emily and Camille. Camille joins them a few minutes later and meets Mindy, with the trio sharing a few awkward moments before Mindy takes Camille and Emily's picture. Emily posts it on her Instagram, which Camille follows, and notices she has over 20K followers.

Emily returns to work when she receives an invitation from Durée inviting her to an influencer lunch. She shares the news with Julien who warns her against attending as Durée and Savoir have a complicated past. Emily approaches Sylvie regarding Savoir not having a cosmetics account, but Sylvie refuses to discuss it and instead, tells Emily about the Hästens luxury bed account they are meeting with tomorrow.

She attends the Durée lunch and attempts to get a moment alone with their CMO, Olivia Thompson, though her persnickety assistant informs Emily that she will have to earn the meeting with Olivia. Emily does just that by coming up with a clever way to advertise their new lipgloss and is invited to speak with Olivia in private. Olivia recognizes Emily from the Vaga-Jeune social campaign and is interested in speaking with Emily more at lunch tomorrow.

Emily runs into Gabriel and Camille outside 1 Place de L'Estrapade and the couple invites Emily to join them at a unique art gallery, L'Atelier des Lumières. They admire Van Gogh's work which is projected all around the room as if to give the illusion that they are in the painting. Camille is distracted by her friends, leaving Emily and Gabriel to discuss their kiss the other night. Emily assures him she wouldn't have kissed him if she knew he had a girlfriend, even though she thought they had something between them. They agree to pretend as though the kiss never happened.

The next morning at Savoir, they meet with the representative from Hästens luxury beds. The representative, Klara, doesn't like Sylvie's ideas as they have been executed before and aren't interesting. Emily pitches an inspired idea that includes taking photos of real people sleeping in Hästens beds in the best places in Paris, from Jardin du Luxembourg to the Louvre. Klara agrees to think about the pitch idea.

In the meantime, Emily's lunch meeting with Olivia Thompson from Durée Cosmetics takes a wrong turn when Olivia offers Emily the opportunity to be their brand ambassador and an official influencer. Emily turns down the offer and explains that she wants Olivia to resign with Savoir, an idea that Olivia rejects solely because Sylvie Grateau still works there.
