- Open a Word document. Open a new Word document.
- Insert a basic shape. Click on the Insert tab in the top menu bar to change the ribbon. In the section Illustrations, click on the Shapes icon. This will open a window with various shapes.
- Add more shapes. Add more shapes like line, oval, and text box. The chosen shapes will appear in the document.
- Modify the shapes. Click on the shape you want to change. Drag the handles on the shape to change it. (Handles are the small circles on the corners as well as the circular arrow at the top, shown in red below.)
