Jindřichův Hradec is located about 42 kilometres (26 mi) northeast of České Budějovice. It lies in the Křemešník Highlands. The highest point is the hill Rýdův kopec at 553 m (1,814 ft) above sea level. The town is situated on the Nežárka river, on the shore of Vajgar pond, which is one of the symbols of the town.
