Jonathan went to Old Orchard Junior High and Niles North High School. He then attended the University of Illinois Urbana–Champaign from where he acquired a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Theatre. He also studied Improvisation and Sketch comedy at The Second City in Chicago and The Groundlingsin Los Angeles.
