RESURRECTION OF JESUS CHRIST ( ἀνάστασις, G414, and [once] ἐγερσις ). After Jesus Christ died and was buried on Good Friday, He was raised from the dead in body and soul on the first day of the week. His resurrection was not a mere resuscitation, as was the case with Lazarus and others whose resurrections are recorded in Scripture.
The New Testament states that the resurrection of Jesus is the foundation of the Christian faith. Christians believe that through his sacrificial death and resurrection, humans can be reconciled with God and are thereby offered salvation and the promise of eternal life.
