This particular Statue of Liberty has only been gracing the Luxembourg Gardens since 2013 when it replaced a small-scale model of Lady Liberty that had stood in the garden for over one hundred years. Getting To This Statue Of Liberty: By Metro, take Saint-Placide (line 4); access the park at Rue Guynemer.
Open hours for the Luxembourg Garden depend on the month: opening between 7:30 and 8:15 am; closing at dusk between 4:45 and 9:45 pm. Statuary. The garden contains just over a hundred statues, monuments, and fountains, scattered throughout the grounds.
- Île aux Cygnes. The biggest and main Paris Statue of Liberty replica is located on a charming human-made island of Île aux Cygnes. Measuring just about one kilometer end-to-end in length (2,789 ft), Île aux Cygnes (known as Isle of the Swans in English) is small but packed with tree-lined walkways, a nice outdoor recreational area with free facilities including exercise machines and a climbing wall, and the island’s star attractions — a quarter-scale Statue of Liberty replica.
- Orsay Museum. The second replica of the Statue of Liberty in Paris guards the ground floor of the famed Musee d’Orsay. Measuring 2.87 metres (9.4 ft) tall, it’s a lot smaller than the one at Île aux Cygnes but is just as grand.
- Luxembourg Gardens. After the above Statue of Liberty replica was moved to the Orsay museum, a new bronze replica was constructed to take up its space in Jardin du Luxembourg.
- Musée des Arts et Métiers. Musée des Arts et Métiers used to be home to two Statue of Liberty replicas — one located just outside the museum, and one inside!
In 1905, the statue was placed behind the Musée du Luxembourg, on the western edge of the Luxembourg Gardens, where it stood for over a century until 2012. Today, visitors can see a replica of this Statue of Liberty. The original cast by Bartholdi stands in the entrance hall at the Musée d’Orsay.
- The Best View Of The Paris Statue of Liberty – And The Eiffel Tower. It is perhaps fitting that the best view of the Statue of Liberty in Paris should also include the Eiffel Tower, as the creator of the latter also had a hand in the construction of the Statue of Liberty.
- Statue of Liberty – Paris Musée d’Orsay. In 1900, Frédéric-Auguste Bartholdi donated a 1/16 size cast (2.7 metres high) of the Statue of Liberty to the Musée du Luxembourg, and this was eventually moved the short distance to the Jardins du Luxembourg Gardens five years later.
- Statue of Liberty Luxembourg Gardens. After the removal of the Orsay’s Statue of Liberty replica, a copy of the replica was cast to replace it in the Jardins du Luxembourg.
