May 19, 2020 · The Martians are using their telepathy as a defense against the invading Earthmen, using their own thoughts and fondest memories to lull them into a state of acceptance and bliss. Once placated, the men would be poisoned and killed. Only the thinner Martian air compromises the illusion, but the Earthmen react too late.
