gbrumburgh 31 March 2001. 1965's "The Sound of Music" is everything a bad musical should be. Providing more sap than a forest full of Vermont maples, it has coy, silly songs, an inane, innocuous script, and unbelievably sugary characters.
Parents need to know that The Sound of Music, which stars stars Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer, is the beloved film adaptation of Rodgers and Hammerstein's classic stage musical. It's rich in character, music, and story, as well as filled with positive messages.
