Grace Quigley is nearing the end of her life, living alone in her New York apartment. One day she witnesses a murder being committed by top hit-man, Seymour Flint. She decides to blackmail him into killing her, however, she has one or two friends he has to get rid of first.
She views these acts as mercy killings, not murders. When an aging but spry Grace Quigley (Katharine Hepburn) accidentally witnesses the contract killing of her lousy landlord, she is both shocked and pleased. She hides in the back seat of a nearby Cadillac. The killer, Seymour Flint (Nick Nolte) owns the car! Making his getaway, he throws the pistol into the back seat.
May 17, 1985 · Entered into competition at the 1984 Cannes Film Festival, Grace Quigley made no impression whatsoever. Screenwriter A. Martin Zweibeck withdrew the film, recut it to his satisfaction, and reissued it as The Ultimate Solution of Grace Quigley.
