The UCPMB is an Albanian armed group operating in southern Serbia whose operations are reportedly controlled by the Political Council for Presovo. They are calling for the incorporation of the cities of Preshava, Medvegia and Bujanovci into Kosovo. Estimates of numbers vary between 200 and 15,000.

The Battle of Dobrosin was a conflict between police of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and Albanian militant group Liberation Army of Preševo, Medveđa and Bujanovac (UÇPMB) during the 2000-2001 insurgency in the Preševo Valley. On 4 March, the UÇPMB numbering 500 insurgents attacked and captured the strategic village of Dobrosin.

Ridvan Qazimi (4 April 1964 – 24 May 2001), known by his nom de guerre as Lleshi, was one of the commanders of the Albanian militant group Liberation Army of Preševo, Medveđa and Bujanovac (UÇPMB). During the 1999–2001 insurgency in the Preševo Valley, he was one of the five commanders of the UÇPMB and commanded the 112th Brigade.
