I would send a message to POF through whatever contact info they provide on their actual website and ask them if the email address sending you emails (what I would consider spam) is actually an address they use. Unless you were actually paying for POF just ignore the messages. Smells like a phishing attempt.

Tech issue: Registering. Can't finish the signup process. After I fill out a few "Hobbies and Interests," the NEXT button is unresponsive. Anyone have a solution to this problem? I was stuck at this for a while... and after turning of my VPN, I got in. Still can't use a VPN and be on POF, in my experience.
Since POF is a legitimate website (launched since 2003), you can try contacting their support page or their email, and request for your email address to be removed (or have the account closed out) from their website.
