The St. George's (Yuriev) Monastery (Russian: Юрьев монастырь, romanized: Yur'ev monastyr') is usually cited as Russia's oldest monastery. It stands in 5 kilometers south of Novgorod on the left bank of the Volkhov River near where it flows out of Lake Ilmen .
St. Bonaventure Monastery consists of three buildings: the 1883 monastery (completed in 1913), the 1908 Soup Kitchen, and the 1939 Third Order Hall. The monastery complex also contains a tiny cemetery and a 1960 mission building.

Jul 21, 2014 · Archbishop Theoktistos was glorified a Saint in 1664 owing to many miraculous healings worked by his relics. In 1786 the relics of the Saint were transferred to Yuriev Monastery, where Archimandrite Photius constructed at the local cathedral a chapel in his honor.
