Turtle Back Zoo is a good place to spend a day, but it needs improvement and customer service. The zoo is beautiful, something unique in the middle of a town, but the over crowd does not allow too much space for enjoyment.

Turtle Back Zoo is a zoo in West Orange, New Jersey. Situated on 20 acres (8.1 ha) in the South Mountain Reservation, [2] it is part of the South Mountain Recreation Complex, which is managed as part of the Essex County Park System, the oldest county park system in the United States.
The zoo includes an assortment of animals including the Great Plains Exhibit and the Scottish Highland Exhibit which were added in 1999. Family fun activities include a petting zoo, food pavilion, picnic area, pony rides, souvenirs and train ride. Hours 10 - 4:30 Monday - Saturday* 11 - 5:30 Sundays*
