The People of Praise is a Christian community of families and single people who seek to participate in the mission of the church in our time and to live our lives communally until the day when Jesus will be all in all.
People of Praise is a network of lay Christian intentional communities. As a parachurch apostolate, membership is open to any baptized Christian who affirms the Nicene Creed and agrees to the community's covenant. The majority of its members are Catholics, but Protestants can also join, reflecting the ecumenical nature of People of Praise.
Founded in 1971 in South Bend, Indiana, People of Praise has grown into a community of about 1,700 members. We are now in 22 cities across the US, Canada, and the Caribbean. In the 1970s, '80s and '90s, the People of Praise ran a series of international Catholic charismatic conferences at Notre Dame and in Dublin, Rome and other major U.S. cities. A total of more than 250,000 people attended these conferences, coming from dozens of denominations and countries.
