Robert Marshall Watts (1923–1988) was an American artist best known for his work as a member of the international group of artists Fluxus. Born in Burlington, Iowa June 14, 1923, he became Professor of Art at Douglass College, Rutgers University, New Jersey in 1953, a post he kept until 1984.

Watts has been called “cryptic”, a maverick artist and “the invisible man of Fluxus and Pop.”. His original training was in mechanical engineering, and he subsequently attended the Art Students League and Columbia University in New York City, receiving his Masters Degree in Art History in 1951.
Robert Watts (1923-1988), key figure in the quasi-anarchic artists' collective known as Fluxus, was equally interested in breaking down the distinctions between art and the everyday, producing unconventional objects and projects that are both playful and provocative.
