    The Avengers are a team of super heroes in the Marvel Universe. Despite starting in its own corner of Earth-616, it expanded over time and has, since its creation, featured a large number of characters in a variety of combinations, with a vast majority of heroes in the Marvel Universe being an Avenger at some point in their history.

    This list also includes the numerous spin-off Avengers teams that were at some point officially considered part of the group. These teams are, in alphabetical order:

    All of these members helped form the team in The Avengers vol. 1 #1 (September 1963), responding to an attack by Loki.
