Wilmington is where the Baldwin apple was discovered. Wilmington is also home to the Col. Joshua Harnden Tavern, which probably served as a stop on the Underground Railroad and now houses the Wilmington Town Museum. Since World War II, Wilmington's population has quadrupled.

Wilmington is situated in the northeast part of Middlesex County, and is bounded south by Woburn and Burlington, west by Billerica and Tewksbury, north by Andover and east by Reading and North Reading.
The Town of Wilmington is a suburban industrial town occupying 17.2 square miles of the watershed of the Ipswich River. The town was part of an unstable Colonial frontier during Queen Ann’s War. The Baldwin apple is supposed to have been discovered in Wilmington in the 1790’s on Butters Farm.

Wilmington can be easily accessed by train via the Commuter Rail of the MBTA. You can take the train in and out of Boston and to points South and North using the Commuter Rail at either of Wilmington’s two train stations. North Wilmington Station provides service as far North as Haverhill and as far South as North Station, Boston.
Wilmington is a town in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 22,325 at the 2010 census. Wilmington was first settled in 1665 and was officially incorporated in 1730, from parts of Woburn, Reading and Billerica.
