Arch Alfred Moore Capito (born August 30, 1982) is an American attorney and politician who served in the West Virginia House of Delegates from 2016 to 2023. [1] [2] A member of the Republican Party, he was a candidate for governor of West Virginia in the state's 2024 gubernatorial election but was defeated by Patrick Morrisey. [3]
The daughter of three-term West Virginia governor Arch Alfred Moore Jr ., [1] she is the dean of West Virginia's congressional delegation. Capito was the only Republican in West Virginia 's congressional delegation until 2011, and the first Republican woman elected to Congress from West Virginia.
