Kim van Kooten was born in Amsterdam. She made her debut in the film _Little Sister (1995)_. For her part she got a Best Actress nomination at the Dutch Filmfestival. It was her breakthrough as an actress. One year later, she made her debut as a screenwriter.

She has written for series, including the very popular rating hit Dag & Nacht (2023, NPO), and De Verschrikkelijke Jaren 80 (2022, NPO) on both of which she served as one of the executive producers.
Kim Van Kooten was an actress who had a successful Hollywood career. In her early acting career, Kooten appeared in such films as "Little Sister" (1995), the Hans Teeuwen comedy "Jesus is a Palestinian" (1999) and "Phileine Says Sorry" (2003).
