Vasily Makarovich Shukshin ( Russian: Василий Макарович Шукшин; 25 July 1929 – 2 October 1974) was a Soviet Russian writer, [1] actor, screenwriter and film director from the Altai region who specialized in rural themes.

Biography. Vasily Makarovich Shukshin (Russian: Василий Макарович Шукшин; 25 July 1929 – 2 October 1974) was a Soviet Russian writer, actor, screenwriter and film director from the Altay region who specialized in rural themes.
Shukshin became Honoured Art Worker of Russia. The producer and the script writer of the film "The Strange People". V. Shukshin was awarded the USSR State Prize for the part of Vasily Chernykh, got the Order of the Red Banner. He took part in the film epic "Osvobozhdenie" ("Liberation"), the part of Marshal Konev.
