At least half an hour before I plan to start a treatment, I set the machine to Prime. This takes about 25 minutes. When it is done, I can: Start my treatment. Wait—up to 12 hours—and treat later. Note: The NxStage manual says it is safe for up to 72 hours. Your clinic may set its own limits.
