  2. As far as I know, UCSB gives every applicant a score and they send the top 5% (I think... It could be more.) these invitations. The overwhelming majority of accepted applicants aren't invited though so you're probably good. Most of the people I know here weren't. You probably didn't get the regent scholarship, though.
