Taoism ( ⫽ ˈdaʊ.ɪzəm ⫽ ⓘ, ⫽ ˈtaʊ.ɪzəm ⫽ ⓘ) or Daoism is a diverse philosophical and religious tradition indigenous to China. Taoism emphasizes living in harmony with the Tao —generally understood as being the impersonal, enigmatic process of transformation ultimately underlying reality.
