St. Clare of Assisi-St. Francis Xavier School has been serving the Morris Park area of the Bronx since 1951. As a regional school, we draw students from several different areas of the Bronx, yet remain a close-knit community.
Since 1847, Xavier has educated intelligent, motivated young men from Manhattan and far beyond, sending them forth to transform the world for God’s greater glory. That mission has never been more important than it is today.
In 1882, a new, much larger and much grander Church of St. Francis Xavier was built on 16th Street, and the old church was soon demolished. On the footprint of the old church, a new two-story building was constructed, bringing much-needed facilities—and central heating—to the school.
