Synopsis. As Larry the Dwarf (Ringo Starr) descends onto a television soundstage carrying a steaming genie lamp, the German announcer (Theodore Bikel) asks him why he is dressed as Frank Zappa, the leader of the music group The Mothers of Invention.
With help from a former Beatle, Ringo Starr, and a member of the Who, Keith Moon, Frank Zappa and his band draw on their own experiences in this mockumentary about the lives of peripatetic rock stars. Director Zappa takes his cameras backstage, offering a glimpse of what it's like to be out on tour.
The story, interspersed with performances by the Mothers and the Royal Symphony Orchestra, is a tale of life on the road. The band members' main concerns are the search for groupies and the desire to get paid. Tony Palmer. Director, Writer. Frank Zappa.
