Donald Trump is the first former president to be convicted in a criminal trial, and President Joe Biden’s son Hunter is the first child of a sitting president to be convicted of a felony.

Voters in the Republican primary for South Carolina's 1st congressional district voted on Tuesday.

The virtual interview with officials represents the next step for former President Donald Trump as a convicted criminal before he’s sentenced on July 11.

Former President Donald Trump is sitting for a virtual interview Monday with probation officials ahead of his sentencing for falsifying business records. Attorney and CBS News campaign reporter Katrina Kaufman is in Florida, where the former president is virtually attending the meeting.

While the interview is unlikely to shed new light on Donald Trump’s conduct or character, it could work against Trump if he demonstrates contempt toward the probation officer.

The latest CBS News poll, which comes as President Biden ended his D-Day trip to France and former President Trump campaigned in two battleground states, shows the two candidates in a virtual tie in the presidential race. A majority of likely voters said in the poll Trump's conviction is not a major factor in the election.
