Magnus of Mecklenburg was the son of Heinrich IV "der Fette", duke of Mecklenburg, and his wife Dorothea of Brandenburg [1] . He married Sophie of Pomerania, daughter of Eric II, Duke of Pomerania-Stettin, on 31 May 1478 in Anklam [1]. They had the following children:
