Yaroslav Osmomysl [Ярослав Осьмомисл; Jaroslav], b ?, d 1 October 1187 in princely Halych. Galician prince; son of Volodymyrko Volodarovych. He is first mentioned in the chronicles under the year 1150, when he married Olha, the daughter of Yurii Dolgorukii.
In 1152, after the death of Volodymyrko, the Halychian throne was succeeded by his only son Yaroslav Osmomysl. Yaroslav began his reign with the Battle on the river Siret in 1153 with Grand Prince Iziaslav, which resulted a heavy losses for the Halychians but led to the retreat of Izyaslav, who died shortly thereafter.
From 1144 it was the capital of Yaroslav Osmomysl's Halych principality, and from 1199 the capital of Roman Mstyslavych's Principality of Galicia-Volhynia. In 1238 Danylo Romanovych established his residence at Halych. Three years later the city was razed by the Mongols.
