Warrandyte (population 8,000) is a historic township situated on the Yarra River some 35km north-east of Melbourne. It enjoys a special place in the Victoria’s cultural and artistic history. Warrandyte was the site of the first registered goldfield in Victoria in 1851.
Warrandyte, in hilly terrain on the Yarra River, is a residential and rural suburb 24 km north-east of central Melbourne. The original township is on the south side of the river, and is adjoined by Warrandyte South. Warrandyte North is on the other side of the river, extending northwards to Kangaroo Ground. Gold.
