Oak Ridge is a city in Anderson and Roane counties in the eastern part of the U.S. state of Tennessee, about 25 miles (40 km) west of downtown Knoxville. Oak Ridge's population was 31,402 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Knoxville Metropolitan Area. Oak Ridge's nicknames include the Atomic City, the Secret City, and the City Behind a Fence.

Oak Ridge, city, Anderson and Roane counties, eastern Tennessee, U.S. It lies in a valley between the Cumberland and Great Smoky mountains, about 20 miles (30 km) west of Knoxville, and is a part of that city’s metropolitan area.
The Manhattan Project National Historical Park consists of three sites located in Oak Ridge, Tennessee; Los Alamos, New Mexico; and Hanford, Washington. Newly opened in 2015, this historic park features sites, facilities, equipment, and artifacts associated with an unprecedented top-secret government program known as the Manhattan Project.
