The key to the chemistry between them is Yara Shahidi’s work as the daughter. Apparently she really is 7, and her previous experience is limited to three episodes of “In the Motherhood.”.
However, Meet Dave received worse reviews than Imagine That. Imagine That was released in the United Kingdom on August 14, 2009, and failed to reach the Top 15. About the movie's modest success, Murphy said: "The movie didn’t have a chance at the box office – it’s just me and this little girl and a blanket."

Despite a promising turn by newcomer Yara Shahidi (grown-ish) , Imagine That is another pedestrian family comedy that squanders Eddie Murphy's comedic talents. It still is a funny movie. Curse words inclue hell, crap and goddamn.
