mjneu59 29 December 2010. The idea must have looked bizarre on paper: a poignant comedy-drama about a half-human, half-rodent orphan found living in an LA dump, groomed to be a media sensation, and exploited by various Hollywood hustlers in search of a quick buck.
Synopsis. A former window dresser named Nikki overhears mention of a mysterious "Ratboy" named Soma while dumpster diving at a dump. After finding and befriending him, Nikki makes several attempts at marketing his uniqueness to the public. At the same time, Soma wishes to avoid public attention.
“Ratboy” is a perplexing movie about a perplexing hero – a little creature that is half human and half rat and combines all of the least interesting characteristics of both species. The rat boy lives in a garbage dump somewhere in the hills above Los Angeles, in a hovel furnished like a cross between a tree house and a rec room.
