Owain ap Gruffudd ( c. 1100 – 23 or 28 November 1170) was King of Gwynedd, North Wales, from 1137 until his death in 1170, succeeding his father Gruffudd ap Cynan. He was called Owain the Great ( Welsh: Owain Fawr) [1] and the first to be styled "Prince of Wales" and the "Prince of the Welsh".

Owain Gwynedd (died 1170) was the last great king of North Wales (Gwynedd) who helped advance Welsh independence against Norman and English dominance. Together with his brother Cadwaladr, Owain led three expeditions (1136–37) against the English stronghold of Ceredigion to the south.

OWAIN ap GRUFFYDD, or OWAIN GOCH, (fl. 1260), a prince of Gwynedd. eldest son of Gruffydd ap Llywelyn by Senena, and brother of Llywelyn ap Gruffydd. Some years a prisoner of his brother, Dafydd ap Gruffydd, Henry III secured to him a portion of Snowdonia by the treaty of Woodstock (1247).
