Speed skating at the 2002 Winter Olympics was held over fourteen days, from 9 to 23 February. Ten events were contested at the Utah Olympic Oval. [1]

The semifinals were held on 16 February. The top two finishers in each of the two semifinals qualified for the A final, while the third and fourth place skaters advanced to the B Final. Feb 12, 2002 · The most successful skaters in competition were Jochem Uytdehaage (Netherlands) and Claudia Pechstein (Germany). Both of them captured the two longest distances with two new world records, with Uytdehaage also taking silver in the 1,500 m.
