Feb 27, 2024 · And finally, here is the list – over 25 of my favourite places to go camping on Vancouver Island. These campgrounds range from tiny to huge and are found across the island. I’ve separated the campgrounds by category, starting with provincial parks and ending with recreation sites.
One of Vancouver Island’s best campgrounds is located at Jordan River, on Highway 14, west of Sooke on the Juan de Fuca Channel. The Jordan River Regional Park campground offers a mix of sites for RVs and tent campers, with easy access to a sweeping Pacific Ocean beach.
- Goldstream Provincial Park. Goldstream Provincial Park is a must-visit campground located just outside of Victoria. It’s home to towering 600-year old Douglas Fir trees, rare wildflowers, and other flora and fauna endemic to southern Vancouver Island.
- China Beach Campground in Juan de Fuca Provincial Park. China Beach in Juan de Fuca Provincial Park is a spectacular campground located on the coast of southern Vancouver Island.
- Gordon Bay Provincial Park. One of the top interior Vancouver Island campgrounds is Gordon Bay Provincial Park. It’s located on Lake Cowichan, north of the city of Duncan, in an area known for its mild temperatures and sunny summers.

Part One is a list of campsites in the South and Mid-Island, while Part Two will highlight campsites on the West Coast of the Island, as well as the Comox Valley and North Island.
Kitty Coleman Provincial Park. The Kitty Coleman Provincial Park is one of those areas on the island that is going to speak to you. We love this campground because it is along the oceanfront and it’s going to make it easy for you to settle in and just enjoy a bit of quiet time.
