     Why would you use a client.command inside of a client.event like that?

     Just use command instead:

     @client.command(pass_context=True)async def hello(ctx, *, msg): for server in client.servers: for channel in server.channels: try: await client.send_message(channel, msg) except Exception: continue else: break

     This will send the message to the first channel in guild where the bot has permission to send messages.

     For future references consider upgrading to the latest API version since old ones are NOT supported and you will get a hard time getting help. For the new API the code would look like this:

     @client.command()async def hello(ctx, *, msg): for server in bot.guilds: for channel in server.channels: try: await channel.send(msg) except Exception: continue else: break

     Edit: As per comment from Patrick your specific error indicates that you're using Client instead of Bot , if so just use @bot.command instead.

     function in any of the other cogs extensions you load, remove the line

     await self.client.process_commands(message)-

     from its body. It is not needed inside an extension file loaded by cogs, only in a main file.

     The key issue is that you are not defining your decorators correctly. Since you are using commands you only need the bot = commands.Bot(command_prefix='r!') statement. The client = discord.Client() is not needed. Since it is bot = ..., all your decorators need to start with @bot. Also, your won't use client , you'll use bot like channel2 = bot.get_channel(channelidishere).

     Removed the guild loop and replaced it with discord.utils.get to get the guild - guild = discord.utils.get(bot.guilds, name=GUILD). This requires another import - import discord

     Try this:

     Client() and Bot() are two methods to create bot and using both at the same time is wrong.

     Using Client() and Bot() you create two bots but they would need client.run(TOKEN) and pp.run(TOKEN) to run together - but it makes problem to start them at the same time and it can make conflict which one should get user message.

     Bot() is extended version of Client() so you need only Bot() and use

     • @pp.event instead of @client.event
     • pp.run(TOKEN) instead of client.run(TOKEN)
     • pp.user instead of client.user

     EDIT:

     And you have to define pp before all functions. Like this

     And from the discord dev portal you need to enable whatever priviledges you want, in my case message priviledges
