The movie does portray them as rather cult like, to the eyes of anyone who would be more moderate. But the power of that i believe is taken away with the choice to side the movie with that group. The rapture happened, they are right, they are vindicated. It could have been left more open ended but wasnt.
Plot. Sharon, a young Los Angeles woman, engages in a swinging, libidinous lifestyle. She comes into contact with an unnamed Christian sect that advises her the Rapture is imminent based on their interpretations of strange dreams experienced by congregants. In time, Sharon comes to accept this belief herself and becomes a born-again Christian.
Whether or not you agree with the accuracy of Tolkin's presentation of Christian ideas and beliefs, The Rapture is a thought-provoking film which will engender conversation about everything from A (addiction) to Z (zealotry). An engrossing film about sin, salvation, and the End Times.
